The first stop during the field trip with my colleagues Andrey Bekker (University of Riverside, California) and Heda Agic (University of Durham, UK) represented the Egoreni quarries located near Egoreni, Soroca district.

The Egoreni quarries represent the primary supply of sandstone material for the Republic of Moldova. We have visited all four (4) quarries and observed the late Ediacaran sedimentary rocks of the Cosăuți (Yampil) and Lyadova Members of the Mohyliv and Yaryshiv Formations.
The Cosăuți Member is represented by fine- to coarse-grained gray to yellow sandstones with occurrences of Ediacaran fauna, while the Lyadova Member consists of green to red argillites.

Green and red argillites of the Lyadova Member, Yaryshiv Formation. Egoreni quarry nr. 1 (Heda Agic and Andrey Bekker are in the picture)

Massive yellow sandstones of the Cosăuți Member, Mohyliv Formation. Egoreni quarry nr. 3 (Andrey Bekker is used for scale)

Ediacaran fauna(?) fossil identified on one of the Cosăuți sandstone beds. Egoreni quarry nr. 4
